US Pathway Program at Baylor University in Texas, USA - Texas A

US Pathway Program at Baylor University in Texas, USA

Baylor University is what I like to refer to as the perfect mid-size university
It has all the perks and benefits of a large university: world-class facilities,
world-class faculty while at the same time the average class size is only 28
There's a faculty-student ratio of 15 to 1
so that means for every 15 students there is a faculty member there
to be able to help them along the way.
Baylor is located in Waco, Texas which is right middle of Texas
we call it Central Texas
between Dallas and Austin. It's actually quite beautiful.
It's along the largest river in Texas.
There's a lot of rolling hills, green grass and blue skies.
At Baylor we have over 16,000 students and about 14,000 are undergraduate students
and of that number about 1200 students are international students.
We love our international community.
We have over 144 majors to choose from
Some of the most popular are in our Business School
which would include accounting, entrepreneurship and finance
as well as in our Engineering School where we have electrical and mechanical engineering as well as computer science

We even have some of the best health and human science programs in the country
with over a 75% acceptance into medical school
A typical day at Baylor can vary from student to student
The majority of students or over half of the students
actually live on campus
So it's very much a tight-knit community
They have most of their meals together - breakfast, lunch and dinner - they usually take 2 or 3
classes a day and they're very very active in extracurricular activities
We have over 290 student organizations. These organizations vary from academic to service to fraternal
so the idea is for people to be able to live life together
and be able to build a global network
We have large-scale sports, we call them Division I athletics where we compete in
football, basketball, tennis, track actually we have
19 of these Division I sports, and so if you're not quite good enough to play we welcome
students to be able to come and support their teams to victory
At Baylor students have a wide variety of options when it comes to internships and experience before they graduate
There's opportunities with IBM, Apple, SpaceX, Deloitte & Touche
Ernst & Young, PricewaterhouseCoopers and even Sony Electronics
I'm so pleased to hear that you're involved in the USPP program
and I cannot wait to be able to meet you personally on Baylor's campus

Texas A&M Students & Service-Learning At Tsinghua University

This past summer seventeen A&M students
went to Tsinghua, they were a
variety of students that were a variety
of majors, some went there to improve

their mandarin, many were studying
Asian-Pacific culture, politics,
some of them were education majors. We
had a variety of students from freshman
through those who completed their senior year
The program at Tsinghua was so unique to
A&M
because our students were working with
the brightest and best from China
Tsinghua is considered the MIT of China
and also what was unique was we were
working with college students.
Our Texas A&M students went to teach
Chinese freshman how to speak english
at the same time
what was fun was they were volunteering
with singing competition, debate
competitions, speech competitions, they
were helping the students during class
and after class
to perfect their English language oral
skills
When the Aggie students went to China they
got as much
or more than we gave the Chinese students.
They learned a lot about their customs,
their culture, their food, they became
friends with the Chinese students and would
be hanging out with them afterwards to
see how they actually
learn and what the
Chinese educational system is
all about.
