Studying in Texas, USA | US Pathway Program (USPP)
Before I got to Texas I thought
Texas is full of that kind of cowboys, and cowgirls, and people are riding horses
and all that kind of stuff.
I love living in Texas because of the weather.
The weather here in Texas is just really nice.
It kind of feels like home because of the weather.
The weather is the kind of weather we have in Nigeria.
So I like it. It's very comfortable.
We're in the central part of Texas, that is quiet.
It's a beautiful countryside, beautiful part of Texas year-round.
We're not in a high-rise, concrete city
where there's loud noises of cars and horns and all.
And students have said that they like
the serenity of the beauty of this campus where they can find a special place
to study and they don't have the noise of the city.
Also, I think Texas people are really genuine.
And also they hold a very convervative opinion that certainly shaped
the person I'm right now.
Overall I really like living in Texas
in Baylor and I really enjoy the experience here.
Affirmative Action in Universities on Trial at the Supreme Court!
the supreme court this week is going to
hear a case on affirmative action are
not twenty two-year-old abigail fisher
who is the white says that the reason
she did not get into the university of
texas at austin is because of her race
soliciting partisan here that case on
wednesday which depending on when this
video comes out to be staying i'd be
yesterday of the month ago and being
inhabited because i haven't had a
decision right now
on cameras on whether or not people are
age support or a policy affirmative
action
and not that i guess not surprisingly
kinda falls along racial lines says
overall forty seven percent of people
oppose programs that make special
efforts to help minority students while
thirty eight percent favor them uh...
bar when you break that down into racial
categories hispanics support affirmative
action by a margin of sixty three to
twenty two
and that margin is even better when it
comes african-american students seventy
five percent support affirmative action
and just nine percent are host cell i'm
kinda curious to see what you think are
you and your brother so i have a white
male i've been really hard time in life
how do you think about this issue of
yahoo i said first day of but i should
die guest representative bastard for my
race here uh... sixty six percent of
caucasian students oppose it
was just nineteen percent supporting it
that relations president one benefit
programs arkansas artifice review why
would maybe i guess in support of the
that sort of
harmlessly looking at it
so obviously we'll talk with these poll
results in these are coming out of the
berkeley center for religion piece in
world affairs at georgetown university
and the public religion research
institute uh... its national survey
uh... and so estimates representative
i don't know i wanna talk about first
about what you think is going to happen
in terms of the supreme court case and
also
should this be something that exists in
the day in the current form of what we
have after but i'm pretty bollinger
office shirt university university
access and all that uh...
should we have a friend of action and if
we do should it be on racial grounds
should be on economic grounds what do
you think
uh... wallace five
thereof waited whether an idea group
affirmative activity
selected back on me that uh... we're
politician response to my question and
answer well die and i think i think for
a local office some day
and and i'm sitting out in two thousand
very disciplined hartford and other
affirmative action case and it happened
the current affirmative action policies
so it's interesting that it's in
deciding to hear another kind of action
case
and i don't know the fact that it's
deciding the here and i think
could mean i mean i got reaction would
be no they they already have held the
crime affirmative action policies that
by the coupled up again
but in the back of their decided to hear
a means that perhaps not perhaps we're
gonna see a change here
uh... considering how conservative the
court seems to be really recently i met
in the change that might strike it down
and we should point out the in in the
past uh... the there have been
limitations on affirmative action
specifically you're not allowed to use
any sort of numeric criteria applied
moderates you're allowed to have it be
one of many things you considering some
sort of a teamwork the sense like g_p_a_
my community service and things like
that but you can't say if you'd like to
get twenty points out of a hundred or
something like that
it's a previously had been able to do
that to the supreme court has shown over
its history that it is willing to make
some sorts of restrictions on for the
actions of some possible to think but
they might straight down entirely and
this doesn't appear to be a course or
khalid considering systems united that's
not willing to overturn president even
recent president
